Hosted Forums
Hosted Forums are fully autonamous forums which are incorperated in the main site front page, they can be in their own category or just shown as single forums.. These forums can use the main members list, or have an entirely separate one.. They can also have their own Administrators and moderators if so required and have their own "individual" style..
Registering
Registration may be required if you plan to post new topics or reply to existing topics (depending on the particular forum you are using). Registration is free, and you are not required to post your real name. You are required to post your actual email address, however.
Using HTML and/or UBB Code
You may be able to use HTML and/or UBB Code in your posts, if your administrators and moderators have those options turned on for each forum. Some forums may have either HTML or UBB Code turned off, or both turned off. Only your Website's leaders can set this. Every time you post a new note, you will be told whether UBB Code and/or HTML is enabled for that particular forum. If HTML is on, you may use any HTML tags, but please be very careful that you use proper HTML syntax. If you do not, your moderator or administrator may have to edit your post. UBB Code is similar to HTML, but offers just a few basic functions, such as hyperlinking, image display, bolding and italicizing. A complete list of current UBB Codes are listed here.
Uploading Your Files
You may upload your files or images to the Cavecom server.. these files will be available for download by anyone.. for security reasons certain file types are restricted.. permitted file types are listed at the top of the uploads section.. To view the uploads/downloads page Click here.. We do reserve the right to remove files if we see fit..
Online Games
You may launch direct Ip games from the gaming forums..
For online CFS Dogfighter games..check here
For online Chess games..check here
Login or out
You may log-out when leaving the forums.. if you do this your details will be removed... if not they will be remembered until the next time you visit.. and you will not have to log-in again.. the main point of the log-out option is so that users who share the same machine with others can remove the cookie that remembers your details.. otherwise anyone accessing the forums with the same machine will be able to use your username and password.. if this does not apply to you.. there is no real need to log-out every time you leave
Making a Post
You must first be in a particular forum to either make a reply to an exsisting topic or start a new topic of you own.. simple click on the appropriate icon at the top or bottom of the page.. if you start a new topic you have the option to be emailed if someone replies.. if you wish this to happen tick the box.. you may also preview your post before submission.. this does not appear anywhere except on your own machine.. click submit after you are happy with it.. if not edit it and preview again.. you may submit without the preview.. it is up to you..
If you wish to quote all or part of an earlier post by another person.. click on the quote icon contained in the icon bar the top of the persons message you wish to quote from.. this will automatically be included in your reply.. remove any text u do not wish to appear in your quote.. Be carefull with this option because it can be abused.. small parts of a persons message taken out of context can be both misleading and inflammatory..
Moderators
Moderators control individual forums. They can edit, delete, or prune any posts in their forums and also "set the tone" if they so wish. Good moderators do a valuable job and should be treated with respect..
Changing Your Profile
You may easily change any info stored in your registration profile, using the "profile" link located near the top of each page. Simply identify yourself by typing your username and password and all of your profile information will appear on screen. You may change any items, except your username.
Cookies
This Website uses cookies to store the following information: the last time you logged in, your username and password, and your preferred "topic view", if you set it in preferences. These cookies are stored on your browser. Cookies are not used to track your movement or perform any function other than to enhance your use of the Website. If your browser does not support cookies, or you have not enabled cookies on your browser, many of these time-saving features will not work properly..
Editing Your Posts
You may edit or remove the content of your own posts at any time. Just go to the topic where the post to be edited is located and you will see an edit icon on the line that begins "posted on..." Click on this icon to edit the post. No one else can edit your post, except for the forum moderator or the bulletin board administrator. A note is generated at the bottom of each post that is edited so that every one knows when a post has been edited.
Searching For Specific Posts
You may search for specific posts based on a word or words found in the posts, user name, date, and particular forum(s). Just click on the "search" link at the top of most pages. To search for posts or topics by a particular user.. click on the search icon at the top of any post or topic made by the user you wish to search for..
Lost User Name and/or Password
Retrieving your username and password is simple, assuming that email features are turned on for this Website. All of the posts u have previously made carry a profile link.. this has a "lost password" option at the bottom.. that you can use to have your password emailed to you instantly this will be sent to your email address of record.
What are icons or smilies?
Depending on the configuration of your forums, you may be able to associate an emoticon/smilie with each post that you make. There are currently 50 or so icons, each expressing a different emotion or identification. These icons range from a simple note to sadness to warning. They can appear next to each topic in a forum listing or in each individual post. If you do not see icons, your forum administrator may not be allowing icons on this particular forum.. To use emoticons either click on the one you want from the graphic block at the side of the posting box, or simply type in one of the standard type-in set.. For a List of Type-in Emoticons..check here.. note overuse of moodicons can be annoying..
